Level 2 barbering

Our level 2 barbering course enables you to put your training and learning into practice.

About the course

You will be assessed through theory and practical assessments, observations, portfolio evidence, written tasks, and online exams.

The course runs for 13 weeks in our classroom environment and then due to the large network of BARBERSNO1 Commercial stores, your NVQ Level 2 course will also include 2 weeks work experience placement within a store of your choice. This enables you to put your training and learning into practice in a controlled and supervised environment, fine tune your barbering skills and get you ready for employment or self employment.

We currently have the privilege to offer our Level 2 NVQ VTCT barbering course as a private course OR government funded course and privately funded course, to qualify for our government funded course, you must meet the following requirements…

Course content

During the course, you will learn the following:

  • Reduce risks to health and safety
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Cut facial hair using basic techniques and finish men’s hair
  • Shampoo condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Create patterns in the hair

Course schedule

Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm (FULL TIME)

Funded course requirements

  • You must be aged 19 years+
  • You are currently living within the Merseyside area
  • You are either receiving universal credit or earning under £31,000 per annum

Level 3 Barbering

Our Level 3 barbering course is aimed at people who would like to further develop their current barbering skills.

About the course

Our Level 3 barbering course offers a variety of teaching methods to include practical workshops, working in a commercial salon and theory. Having a Level 3 barbering course can open up paths that lead to teaching, owning a business or maybe becoming a barbering manager.

We currently only offer our Level 3 NVQ VTCT barbering course as a privately funded course, to apply for this course, simply fill out our enrolment form at the bottom of the page.

Course content

During the course, you will cover the following:

  • Promote and sell products and services
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety
  • Consultation support for colleagues
  • Cut men’s hair to create a variety of looks
  • Cut facial hair to create a variety of looks
  • Marketing in the hair sector
  • Creative hair design skills
  • Manage a style collection
  • Shaving services

Course schedules

Our full time course: Monday – Friday – 13 weeks – 10am-3pm

Our evening course: 2 x evenings a week – 24 weeks – 5 – 10pm

Our weekend course: Saturday & Sunday – 24 weeks – 9am – 4pm

During the course, you will learn the following:

  • Cut hair using BARBERSNO1 techniques
  • Cut facial hair using BARBERSNO1 techniques
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Advise and consult with clients

You will be assessed through practical assessments, observations, portfolio evidence, written tasks, and online exams. The courses are delivered by skilled and experienced industry professionals from within the BARBERSNO1 Academy Team.
